Ten games, one page

Next draws: every jackpot, and when it closes

Every Australian and international lottery Australians can enter, sorted by whichever draw closes first. The jackpots are the operators' own advertised figures. The countdowns are worked out in your browser from each game's published schedule, so they stay right to the minute even if our nightly job misses a night.

What "closes" means. For the Australian games this is the 7:30pm draw close published by The Lott. It is not your last chance to buy: online and in some outlets sales can stop up to three hours earlier, and it varies by retailer. Treat the clock as when the draw shuts, not as a deadline to run at. Draws are conducted about an hour later, around 8:30pm, and shown on 7TWO.

What the USA figures are. The Lottery Office states that USA Power Lotto and USA Mega Lotto jackpot prize amounts are advertised as the annuity amount and are subject to the equivalent US taxes applicable to the official overseas draw, and that a cash lump sum first prize option would provide a lesser amount. The figure on those two cards is the advertised annuity total, not the amount a winner would receive.

How these countdowns work

Nothing on this page stores a countdown. A stored one is stale the moment it is written, and wrong to the minute from the start. What is stored is each game's weekly schedule: which days it closes, and at what time in Australian eastern time. The clock is worked out from that every time the page loads, and again every minute while it is open.

Australian eastern time moves between UTC+10 and UTC+11 with daylight saving, and the overseas games shift independently of that, so the offset is derived from the date rather than assumed. Seconds only appear in the last hour before a draw closes, where they are the difference between making it and not.

Where a game's close schedule is not published, the card says so instead of showing a clock we cannot stand behind, and it sorts to the end. A wrong clock is worse than no clock.

Results for these games live on the Australian results and international results pages. This page is only about what is still to come.
